Support our Work - Loans Print E-mail
Dear parents of children with autism and others interested in helping our community,

My name is Karl Smith, developer of the DT Trainer, and now the Activity Trainer.  I am a father of a child with autism and am on a mission to create effective and affordable tools for individuals with autism and other learning disabilities.  I started on this mission over 9 years ago to apply to technology the same teaching methods that our therapists use with our kids.  Our kids need so much help and well designed software could be a great assistant to teachers and parents educating individuals with autism.  With my first product, the DT Trainer, we are now in over 750 school districts, over 70 private schools, and thousands of homes.  But this represents a small fraction of the kids that we could help.

We have a lot of plans this year for both of these products that will make them more powerful with significantly more content.  We also have the opportunity to reach a lot more kids this year.

Most of our growth is funded by our revenue.  However, this year we want to do more by seeking additional funding.  We have not been able to secure bank financing as our assets are in the form of intellectual property.  We have decided to offer 18% interest on 1 year loans to us from private individuals or companies interested in supporting our work.  This is significantly higher interest then you can earn in traditional financial institutions, but it is lower for us than factoring costs.  So, here is an opportunity for both of us in helping us do more for the autism community.

Helping finance our development has a definite and immediate impact on thousands of individuals with autism and other learning disabilities.  Currently we are focusing on creating activities for the Activity Trainer which teaches our kids how to do things.  Our kids can learn, but just need special support and tools to do so.  The Activity Trainer will make the powerful teaching method of video modeling accessible to many individuals with autism.

The one year notes will be a minimum of $1000, and pay simple annual interest of 18%.  So a $1000 loan would repay $1180.00 at one year.  If you are interested, email ksmith@dttrainer.com.  Large notes are negotiable for payment terms and duration.

I realize that many of us parents of children with autism are already stretched financially, and will not be able to participate.  Your purchases of our products and helping spread the word has already helped us in this mission.  But for the parents with more financial resources, or your friends or relatives, this is a way to help impact our community and have a nice return.

Best wishes and thanks for your interest and support!
Karl Smith
